چکیده

The interaction between a fault arc and power system has a big influence on the successful reclosing of a faulted system and hence evaluation of this interaction is very important. This paper mainly focuses on a proposed technique of simplified arc model for evaluation of single phase reclosing scheme for extra high voltage transmission system. Both primary and secondary arcs behavior have been simplified and implemented in a custom PSCAD/EMTDC model as a time-varying resistance. The successful singlephase reclosing is investigated by conducting fault clearing and reclosing cases utilizing the simplified arc model. The illustrative cases are presented in order to determine approximately the maximum arc duration that may be expected. To improve the scheme, the shorten pre-set dead time is investigated. The proposed simplified arc model has been used to evaluate the studied existing EHV transmission system for single phase reclosing. By making the pessimistic assumptions with respect to still air conditions, the more severe conditions derived from the studied system were simulated to determine the longest likely extinction times. Keywords— Single phase reclosing; Secondary arc current; Arc model; ElectroMagnetic Transients Program.

One Terminal Digital Algorithm for Adaptive Single Pole Auto-Reclosing Based on Zero Sequence Voltage

This paper presents an algorithm for adaptive determination of the dead timeduring transient arcing faults and blocking automatic reclosing during permanent faults onoverhead transmission lines. The discrimination between transient and permanent faults ismade by the zero sequence voltage measured at the relay point. If the fault is recognised asan arcing one, then the third harmonic of the zero...

Implementation of Fast Adaptive Single-Phase Reclosing Based on Measurement of Harmonic Content in the Real-Time Digital Simulator (RTDS)

This paper presents the implementation of a fast adaptive single-phase reclosing scheme based on the measurement of voltage harmonic content. The main objective of this scheme is to ensure the application of single-phase reclosing after the transient fault extinction or perform automatic blocking maneuver and three-phase tripping for permanent faults. The transmission system represented was bas...

A Probabilistic Fault Arc Reignition Model for Mv Distribution Networks

The paper presents a probabilistic fault arc reignition model for MV distribution networks. The model has been developed and implemented in the EMTP program, in order to evaluate the possible benefits of enlarging the time delay before the first fast reclosure, in terms of reducing the probability of fault reignition and, thus, avoiding longer interruptions. The application of the model in simu...

New Adaptive Reclosing Technique in Unbalanced Distribution System

The conventional reclosing of a distribution system is performed after a fixed dead time. However, it may lead to the increased outage time due to delayed reclosing. To solve this problem, this paper proposes a new adaptive reclosing scheme. The electrostatic induction is analyzed under at during-fault and post-fault conditions. Based on this analysis, the method to judge the fault clearance us...

A Review of Adaptive Autoreclosure Techniques

Adaptive autoreclosing is a fast emerging technology for improving power system marginal stability during faults. It avoids reclosing unto permanent faults and recloses unto transient faults only after the secondary arc has extinguished. This paper presents a comprehensive review of various adaptive autoreclosure techniques. It aims at providing a broad perspective on adaptive autoreclosing tec...
